NYC Zoning proposal could mean BIG things…

A new proposal by the Department of City Planning may allow buildings to add green roofs, roof top farms, and greenhouses without having to jump through the usual permitting required to add to the roof!  Studies say this could bring almost 1,200 acres of Urban Farms.

The Very Successful Brooklyn Grange

This will provide a purpose for many unused rooftops across the city as well as some tax breaks and incentives for many building owners.  Other benefits are of course the cleaner air, and reduced storm water runoff!

HERE is the link to the proposed changes at the Dept. of City Planning.  Feel free to call or email them to voice support.

HERE is a great article by INHABITAT NYC on the subject.

And finally, HERE is a link to read more about Brooklyn Grange.

Let’s hope this happens!
